I heard a little voice calling “mommy, where are you?” about 4am in the morning.
“I am here”, I murmured.
Ivan’s bed is only right in front of ours. I crawled to check on him. Usually he will say he wants water or milk or he probably has dreams.
“I love you mommy”, he uttered.
My heart melt, “I love you too darling”, I replied. I went to the loo and check on him again later, he was fast asleep. I adored looking at his sleepy face, looks just like the father when he sleeps.
“I love you” is a rare word I used with my Chinese educated parents. I reckon it is due to their conservativeness, I was not raise to say I love you; instead, we used action to show our love to our dear parents. I remembered I had to attend a 3-day motivational course by Ernest Wong back in college. After getting to know the real me, I changed. I started to show more love to my parents. I seize every father’s or mother’s day to express my love in words to them. A simple “爸妈,我爱你。” (Mom & dad, I love you).
Hehe, they may be shy, but looking at how careful they keep those cards, I know deep down their hearts, they love it.
I just hope that Ivan won’t stop telling us he loves us.

hehe, hi Ally, since i do not have a husband or a kid yet! “I love u” from boyfriend’s mouth is good enough!!
but if Ivan is like my little cousin , u’ll find the 3 words meaningless as she says “i love u” to everyone! including strangers!!

Saying I.L.U to whom you really love is a sweet thing to say.
I too love hearing my son tell me so.
Sometime, my boy woke up middle of the night with no reason, he tell me I.L.U just to assure I am in the bedroom beside him. I get upsad when I am lack of sleep, and he woke me up….silly me!
